We want to congratulate Shane Arechiga, member of the Yamasaki Academy youth team, who earned All American Honors in his first year of High School.

The Yamasaki academy, in Maryland, is now on the Gi business. Called Kondyo, the line of Gis is the new challenge embraced by the Yamasaki family.

Starting Feb. 24, we wil have a BJJ Basic class every Tues-Thursday from 6:00-7:00 PM.

2/10/2009 - SCHEDULE UPDATE: New MMA class added to Springfield schedule Tues-Thurs 6:30-7:30PM
Starting Feb. 24 Spring will have an MMA class (6:30-7:30) and after a BJJ class (7:30-9:00).

2/8/2009 - Murilo Santana wins ADCC trials in Brazil.
Yamasaki team member Murilo Santana won the 77 Kilos division securing a spot in this year ADCC tournament, probably the biggest submission grappling event in the planet.

1/29/2009 - The Yamasaki community is saddened to learn of the death of our friend and mentor, Helio Gracie.
The patriarch of the Gracie family, Helio made an impression on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu unlike any other person. Grand Master Helio will remain in our hearts and history will count him as a true legend of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

12/20/2008 - SCHEDULE UPDATE - Rockville school will be closed Dec 24,25,26,31, Jan 1 and 2.
Morning classes will keep the same schedule, but we will hold only an ALL LEVEL class 7:00 - 8:30 PM for the next two weeks. Open Mat on Dec 27 and Jan 3 11-12:30. Please call the school for more information.

11/23/2008 - Thanksgiving SCHEDULE UPDATE - School closed Thursday and Friday
Rockville will be closed this coming Thursday and Friday (11/27 -11/28). We won't have a kids' class this Saturday. BJJ and Thai Boxing will have open mat sessions starting at 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday. Sunday we are back to our normal schedule.

1/29/2008 - Great Results from The European Open! Morgann and Yasmin are bringing home silver medals

10/29/2007 - Congratulation Shane Arechiga! Two weekends and two first place medals.
The 9th grader wrestler and Yamasaki team member, received two first place awards: Montgomery County Fall Brawl Tournament 100 lbs and under and this past weekend he won the Montgomery County Fall Classic Tournament 103 lbs Cadet division. Congrats!!!

9/4/2007 - Yamasaki Fairfax will start their MMA classes on Sept. 10

Brendan also participated in the purple belt absolute division obtaining a 3rd place. Abraham Marte finished 3rd in the Blue Belt Super Super Heavy Division.

4/3/2007 - April 14, 2007 Thai boxing in-house competition at Rockville location
On April 14th at 12pm in Rockville, some of our Thai boxing students will be squaring off for in-house fighting. This will be all-out, going for the knockout, fighting.

4/2/2007 - PanAm's Update: Team Yamasaki added two more Bronze medals
Leo Rancier finished 3rd in the Purple belt Open Class. Luis Pantoja also brings home a bronze, he fought in the Brown Belt Super Feather.

Josh Mendizabal won Silver , Justin Rezende won Gold in gi, and Bronze in no-gi, Ashley Arechiga won Silver in both gi and no-gi, and Shane Arechiga won Gold in both gi and no-gi

3/11/2007 - Murilo Wins Etapa I of Circuito Paulista
Yamasaki Black Belt, Murilo Santana defeated Adriano Silva to win Etapa I of the Sao Paulo BJJ tournament Series.

3/7/2007 - Neto has a new nephew!!!
We want to Congratulate Neto, who has become an uncle recently. His sister gave birth to a baby boy in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The name the baby Arthur Zinani, he is 8lbs and 24.5 inches.

2/26/2007 - Jacob Young, one of Yamasaki Richmond instructors, won the Virginia State Open Championships.
Jake took home the gold in the Brown/Black belt division at this year Virginia State Open. The tournament was held in Arlington, Virginia. Congratulations Jake!!!

1/29/2007 - Team Yamasaki well represented at the European Championships: 2 Golds, 2 Silvers, and 1 Bronze.
The Yamasaki Academy brought home some hardware: Morgann Paraskevas (Black Belt senior division – gold), Salvatore Sanguinetti (Brown Belt Silver), Pilo Stylin (Brown Belt Bronze), and Nicolaas Herbert (Blue Belt Gold and Silver). Congratulations!!!

12/10/2006 - David Jacobs and Salvatore Sanguinetti brought home the gold.
Jacobs and Sanguinetti won in their respective divisions this past Saturday at the East Coast Grappling Championships. George Wehby took Gold in both my Purple belt Masters and Purple Belt Adult Divisions.

Our own Murilo beat multiple time world champion Andre Galvao in the Dragao Championship.

Fernando Yamasaki is in Sweden to teach and overlook the progress at the Swedish academies. Fernando will also be present at next weekends Exhale BJJ Championship as a referee.
