Yamasaki Academy is the FIRST BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU SCHOOL established in the Washington area serving Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Prior to coming to the Washington Area, the Yamasaki family has been teaching martial arts for two generations in Brazil.

In 1994, Mario Yamasaki founded the Yamasaki Academy in the United States and its reputation has developed to be one of the premier Martial Arts training centers in the country. Across the world, Yamasaki Academy locations are also located in Brazil, Sweden, and the Dominican Republic.

The YAMASAKI HEADQUARTER is located in Rockville, Maryland (near the Twinbrook metro station) and features 7,000 square feet of mat space equipped with special cushioned DOJO ped with mats, MMA cage, and mirrored boxing studio. The facility includes separate locker rooms for men and women completely furnished with bathrooms, showers, lockers, and washer/dryer.

Yamasaki Academy’s original location in Rockville, MD has grown to serve the entire Mid-Atlantic Region with locations in Washington, D.C, Montgomery County, Fairfax County, and Loudon County. Thirteen locations are now available in Rockville, Silver Spring, North Potomac, Columbia, Germantown, Reston, Herndon, Chantilly, Centreville, Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, and Richmond.

The Academy offers training for adults, teens, and children in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Submission Grappling, Self-Defense, Thai Boxing, Capoeira, Traditional Boxing, Judo, Strength and Conditioning, and Vale Tudo.
